Main activities of OJSC Novosibirskenergo are:
 Generation of electricity and heat by subsidiaries "Generation" and "Novosibirsk HPP";
Monitoring of the system reliability and management of the energy system by subsidiary "Dispatching Control Center";
Transportation of electricity by subsidiary "Electric Grid".
Generating capacity of Novosibirskenergo includes 5 thermo-power plants and Novosibirsk HPP which belongs to RAO UES, with the total joint capacity of 2 625 MW. Thermo-power stations fired by coal produce most of electricity and heat. Main suppliers of coal are Kansk-Achinsk and Kuznetsky basins. Main outputs of the energy system are electricity (60%) and heat (39%).
The Novosibirsk energy system is short on capacity and power, so the shortage is covered by flows through the intersystem grid of the United Energy System of Siberia.
The Company supplies energy to the Novosibirsk region (area of 178.2 thousand sq. km, population 2.8 million people, of which 75% is urban population). The main consumers of electricity are industrial companies (34%), railroad (12%), non-industrial companies (14%), agriculture (11%), and general population (25%). Main consumers of heat are housing and communal users (62.25%), industrial companies (29.75%), and public utilities.
Main single customers of electricity and heat are West-Siberian Railroad, Novosibirsk Carbon Plant, Novosibirsk Tin Works (NOK), Novosibirsk Chemical Plant, Novosibirsk Switch Plant, and Novosibirsk Metallurgical Plant.
